A proposed way of reading books (Efficiently)
Of all the techniques and tips I've watched and read over the years (And never actually sticked with), like
- Speed reading techniques
- Flash Cards / Notecards
The most efficient & helpful way of reading books and making me actually think about what I'm reading and retaining more information, is asking oneself questions about the actual section of the book. For example, if I was reading this same article:
"What is a proposed new way of reading books?"
"How can I efficiently read new books?"
And because I don't really like making notes in the computer, and actually love pen & paper with no computer/phone around, I fold a block page in half (Most of the books will be at least letter sized (11" x 8.5" or 21.59 cm x 27.94 cm), and jot down quick questions (Usually no more than 4 by each chapter, depending on the book).
This is similar to Cornell's note taking systems, and has the same objective, but in my experience, a lot quicker.
